Oh how we will miss you possum. Your lovely hissing that aggravates the dog and makes him bark shall be missed by all. We have had such a wonderful time getting to know you the past couple of months.
It all started on a lovely fall morning at 5:25 am. D had just gone to work and the dog kept barking and barking. After he woke up the whole neighborhood and E, we went out on the deck to see what was going on. Since it was still dark I had to point the flashlight into the pen and all I could see were some eyes. So I put on some clothes and grabbed the camera.
At that time I called D up to see what I should do. He told me to whack you on the head with a shovel. Oh how I could not do that. It just seemed so inhumane. So I left you to roam free that morning. All I could hear in the breeze was E up in the window yelling "Mama is that possum gone yet?"
The next time we were graced with your presence was about two weeks later at 11:00 pm. You familiar sweet hissing filled the room and I told D you were back. He just did have have the fondness for you that E and I do so he got his pellet gun and started shooting.
We never knew if he actually hit you or not until Sunday night. D went out to feed the dog and there you were in a different corner of the yard. All mad and hissing like your normal self. If only you knew if was the end. Maybe you would have had a different dinner. Maybe some crazy possum sex.
I wonder what you were thinking as D brought the shovel down on you over and over again. I guess we will never know now. So I guess this is farewell possum well I guess farewell if D will ever get your carcass out of the yard.
We will miss your entertainment but sadly not you.
